Digital – Value-Oriented – Future-Ready: Siemens Launches Vocational Training 2025
This year, a total of 178 young talents are starting their professional careers in Erlangen.
On September 1st, we welcomed 91 trainees in Erlangen across 9 different professions. Additionally, a group of young people began their training on August 1st, with another group to follow on October 1st. In Amberg, 57 trainees in 10 professions were warmly welcomed on September 1st. During the introductory week, the focus for these young talents is not only on professional topics but also on getting to know Siemens AG. Over the coming years, they will complete an exciting apprenticeship or dual study program and actively help shape the future.
Across Germany, more than 1,700 young people (previous year: 1,700) are starting their professional journey with Siemens in the 2025 training year – at 18 training centers nationwide. Siemens is a pioneer in dual vocational training: with a focus on digital skills, responsible use of AI, and the development of a clear value compass, the company is preparing Gen Z for the working world of tomorrow.
“Education is the key to innovation, sustainable progress, and social belonging. This generation of young talent also wants to work independently, grow personally, and find meaning in their work. That’s why at Siemens we promote not only digital skills but also fundamental abilities such as critical thinking and problem-solving – for people who want to actively shape change,” explained Judith Wiese, Chief People and Sustainability Officer, Member of the Managing Board, and Labor Director of Siemens AG.
Focus on AI-Based Didactics and Future & Key Competencies
Vocational education at Siemens is consistently aligned with the demands of the digital future. Modern learning platforms, immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, as well as innovative teaching methods and entrepreneurial thinking, strengthen training in the digital age. Topics such as AI, data analytics, IoT (Internet of Things), cybersecurity, and circular economy are integrated throughout the entire education chain. Generative AI is becoming increasingly important: Siemens teaches AI as an interdisciplinary subject and empowers its trainees to use AI tools efficiently, safely, and responsibly.
Bettina Weckesser, globally responsible for vocational training at Siemens, emphasizes: “To keep pace with rapid technological change, education must increasingly evolve into a dynamic and future-oriented ecosystem, where learners, educators, educational institutions, and other relevant stakeholders successfully network and exchange ideas. That’s why we promote ecosystem-based learning, digital skills, responsible AI use, and lifelong, self-directed learning.”
