New bachelor's degree programs in AI and materials technology at the FAU

From the winter semester 2024/25, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität will be offering new degree courses and part-time options in the field of artificial intelligence.

There are changes to the courses on offer at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) for the winter semester: In addition to two new Bachelor's degree courses, FAU is offering the option to study part-time for some courses.

Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence

One new addition is the Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence, which can be studied full-time (6 semesters) or part-time (12 semesters). The English-language Bachelor's degree course comprises compulsory modules from the fields of mathematics, computer science and AI, including ethical and philosophical contextualization. Various compulsory elective areas allow students to focus on specific areas. The corresponding Master's degree course in Artificial Intelligence has already been established.

  • Application deadline: July 15 for international students and August 31 for German applicants

Bachelor of AI Materials Technology

The Bachelor's degree in AI Materials Technology (6 semesters) will also make its debut next winter and deals with the materials of the future. The focus is on materials science and computer science, but mathematics and basic physics are also included in the curriculum. The aim of AI materials technology is to apply findings from materials science in new ways in order to make technology and research more efficient and economical. The areas of application are wide-ranging and include the production of microchips as well as the manufacture of artificial heart tissue.
